Our very own Chedar Stasulli, Care Manager, is making a notable impact on the lives of our residents, while inspiring other staff to do the same! She is one of the many Bethesda Senior Living care givers training in Teepa Snow's POSITIVE APPROACH™ - a progressive therapy for helping seniors and their families recognize and manage the early signs of memory change.
Chedar Stasulli, Care Manager at Broadmoor Court and leader of activities, finds that her 12 years of loving and caring for seniors and learning the POSITIVE APPROACH™ are the perfect match.
“Especially for residents with those early signs of memory loss, I like to pair them with a friend they have made in the community. As I’m reminding them of their chance to join the activity, I’ll encourage them by sharing that their friend asked if they will be joining us. On a van ride, I’ll say, “Mrs. Hanson, Jerri would like you to sit next to her and enjoy the drive together!”
Chedar says this gives the resident the feeling of familiarity with a friend and comfort and connection that everyone needs. Even as they may feel their abilities fading, they know their company is desired.
Using this POSITIVE APPROACH™ the resident participates in many other activities. This also makes the residents life richer and fuller due more experiences and deeper friendships.
In addition to Chedar’s great sense about creating connection for residents, she is a certified Activity Coordinator, and spent 10 years at Country Pines as Activities Director in Utah before joining Broadmoor Court’s team two years ago.
